Saint Paul’s,

Certainly the disaster in Houston, and the whole Southeast of Texas, has escaped none of you. Many of you have friends or family that are enduring the flood waters. Others of you have already donated or assisted. Our larger church family, the national Episcopal Church, has begun to gather funds to help our brothers and sisters down south.

Bishop George is asking the Diocese of Dallas to also contribute to the relief effort. Would you read his letter and think about what you might be able to do?

Greetings in the name of Jesus. Our brothers and sisters in and around Houston are in great distress. Consequently, I call on each and every person in our Diocese to intercede to the Lord in prayer for the people suffering due to hurricane Harvey.  I also encourage you to give as you are able through Episcopal Relief and Development (http://www.episcopalrelief.org/) Canon Gilton and I have each made personal contributions. Will you consider giving as well?

Peace,

The Rt. Rev. Dr. George R. Sumner

Bishop, Diocese of Dallas
